Frequently Asked Questions
Booking and Payment
Q. How can I pay?
A. Bank Transfer (Faster Payments or BACS), cheque. We ask for a £200.00 deposit when booking and payment of the balance in full at least 6 weeks before your arrival date.
Q. Are there any minimum hire durations?
A. Yes. We have a minimum hire of 7 nights for all hires in July and August and for all EU hires at any time of year. Occassionally we may have last minute hires of shorter durations in July and August - see our Facebook page for details as and when we have availability.
Q. Why do I have to pay a damage deposit?
A. Payment of a cleared and traceable deposit (not cash) is a requirement of the insurance company. The deposit covers the cost of any damage to the vehicle whilst it is in your possession and pays the insurance excess in the event of an accident over the amount of the damage deposit. The damage deposit is £750 for bongos and budget motorhomes and £1,000 for premium motorhomes.
Q. When do I get the deposit back?
A. Once we have inspected the campervan/motorhome and confirmed there is no damage or excessive cleaning required. This is normally within 7 days of safe return of the motorhome. If there is damage, it may take longer to assess repair costs and return the balance of the deposit, but we won't hold your deposit for any longer than necessary.
Q. What information will you need when I book?
A. A copy of your driving licence (card part and DVLA driver record pdf/check code), passport and two recent (dated within the last 3 months) utility bills or bank statements showing your home address. You can e-mail copies when booking and show us the originals when you pick the motorhome or bongo up. We'll also need a signed booking form and a non-refundable booking deposit of £200 to secure your booking.
Q. What age requirements are there for drivers?
A. Any age between 25 and 75 is permitted by our insurers as standard and with standard premiums and excess. Our insurers will cover 23/24 year olds with a higher excess and will often insure other drivers either at a surcharge or subject to the hirer agreeing to a larger excess. All drivers are subject to approval by our insurers.
Q. Are points on my license and accidents a problem?
A. It depends how many! Generally up to two three point convictions for speeding are no problem and only cost £10 per driver per 3 points per hire extra. Hirers must not have had more than 1 accident in the last three years. There is a charge of £10 per hire per driver with an accident in the last three years. Please contact us before booking if you do not meet the above criteria, as there may be a larger insurance surcharge and in exceptional circumstances we may not be able to hire to you if we can not obtain insurance that covers you to drive.
Q. How can I book?
A. Check availability on our availability page and e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for further information or to book.
Q. How much deposit do you require & what is your cancellations policy?
A. A non-refundable 20% deposit (minimum £200) is payable within 48 hours of booking to secure your booking. The balance is incurred 2 months prior to departure, although is not payable until 6 weeks prior to the booked departure date.
We regret we are not able to offer refunds of hire charges and the full hire charge remains payable in the event of cancelation within 2 months of departure unless we are able to re-book the motorhome for the dates you were due to travel at the same rates. We recommend you take out travel insurance to cover the cost of your hire should you have to cancel within 2 months prior to departure.

Q. Where can I go?
A. Anywhere in England, Wales and Scotland. Although we can normally arrange hires to Europe for an insurance surcharge of £49 per week or part thereof, this will not be possible for hires during 2020/2021 because of Coronavirus and travel restrictions/the risk of changes to travel restrictions. Our vehicles are popular for campsites or festivals alike. A list of campsites in the UK can be found on www.ukcampsite.co.uk. You may wish to book a campsite in advance, particularly during peak season.
Q. Can your campervans and motorhomes be taken to Europe?
A. For 2020 and 2021, no because of Coronavirus. Normally, yes, subject to approval by our insurers and payment of an insurance surcharge of £49 per week. All UK hires come with 1000 miles per week. For hires to Europe a mileage limit may apply depending on the length of your hire.
Q. Do Motorhomes come with a gas bottle?
A. Yes. Our motorhomes come with a refillable gas bottle. Please re-fill the bottle prior to returning the motorhome. You can do this at petrol stations that sell Autogas or from FloGas on Newark Road in Peterborough. Getting refills abroad is difficult, so take what you need when travelling to Europe!
Q. Do your campervans and motorhomes come with awnings?
A. No, but we do hire Kyham Motordome awnings (£40 per hire). These are freestanding drive away awnings (a bit like a tent) that stands next to the motorhome so you can go in and out in the motorhome without having to take the awning down. They use the Kyham quick erect pole system meaing the awning can be put up and taken down in a couple of minutes (plus pegging time). This video shows one going up in 22 seconds! We don't offer wind out sun canopy type awnings.
Q. Are motorhomes hard to drive?
A. No, as long as you remember you are driving something a bit bigger than a car and adapt your driving accordingly - and of course avoid height restricted car parks and low bridges etc. The motorhome will cruise at 60mph on the motorway with ease and return about 25 mpg which is very economical for a vehicle of its size.
Q. Is my hire subject to a mileage limit?
A. Hires include 1000 miles per week (pro-rata for shorter hires). You can exceed this mileage at an additional charge of £0.20 per mile plus VAT.
